Margot Kidder, the Canadian-born actress who played Lois Lane alongside Christopher Reeves in four Superman movies, has passed away. Her cause of death is unknown at this point. She was 69.

Born in Yellowknife, Kidder had a long and illustrious career outside of the Superman films. Notably, she starred in the cult classic Canadian horror film Black Christmas in 1974, as well as the original 1979 The Amityville Horror film.

Kidder had a very public battle with bipolar disorder for many years. As a result of her issues, she was briefly homeless in 1996. She used that incident as a jumping-off point to become an advocate for mental health issues.

As TMZ reports, Kidder is survived by her daughter.
