Canadian child star Finn Wolfhard has reportedly signed a deal to appear in an upcoming film adaptation of The Goldfinch.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is being helmed by Brooklyn director John Crowley. The film is based on Donna Tartt's Pulitzer Prize-winning 2013 novel of the same name.

Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort will play lead character Theo, a young man whose mother dies in a terrorist attack at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. He is subsequently taken in by a wealthy family and ends up in the seedy art underworld.

Wolfhard, meanwhile, will play the role of Boris — a Ukranian student who befriends Theo and serves as a bad influence, introducing him to drugs and alcohol.

Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Wilson and Aneurin Barnard have also signed on to star in the film.

Wolfhard is best known for recent onscreen roles in Stranger Things and IT, though he's also appeared in a couple of PUP videos and his band Calpurnia is now labelmates with the Toronto punks.
