The Duffer Brothers are finally branching out from their Stranger Things. Today it was announced the creators behind the insanely successful Netflix series will take on The Talisman, the 1984 fantasy horror book by Stephen King and Peter Straub. And the Duffer Brothers are even getting some help from Talisman megafan Steven Spielberg.
As The Hollywood Reporter reports, the Duffer Brothers will serve as executive producers via their Monkey Massacre Productions on The Talisman, which is being produced for Netflix in association with Spielberg's Amblin Television and Paramount Television Studios.
The upcoming show will also make even deeper ties to Stranger Things, as Curtis Gwinn, who worked as a writer-exec producer on the show, be writer and showrunner for The Talisman.
The Stranger Things gang do have their work cut out for them, though. After all, Spielberg spent over 35 years trying to develop The Talisman into a film, only to repeatedly fail.
For the unfamiliar, The Talisman focuses on the story of a 12-year-old boy who goes on an epic roadtrip in attempts to find the Talisman — a relic that can not only save his mother but the world.
So far, few other details of The Talisman have been revealed, but considering it features not only the minds of Stranger Things but also Steven Spielberg and Stephen King, expect to hear a lot more about it soon.
