Welp, 'Starship Troopers' Is Getting Rebooted

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 3, 2016

The unholy ouroboros that is the Hollywood content machine continues to eat itself with yet another reboot on the way. This time, it's Starship Troopers on the docket.

The 1997 film was an early adopter of the self-aware humour that typifies most Hollywood remakes these days, offering a satirical take on the 1959 novel by Robert A. Heinlein.

Rumour has it that the remake will be closer to Heinlein's source material, and Columbia Pictures is hoping to turn it into a new franchise.

No one from the 1997 Starship Troopers is involved with the new film. Instead, it's being adapted by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon — the same duo who wrote the forthcoming Baywatch movie.

Stay tuned for more information on the Starship Troopers reboot (and any subsequent reboots of the reboot that may follow). Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the tip.
