'SNL' Cast Members Won't Have to Appear in Sketches with Elon Musk If They Don't Want

Saturday Night Live is once again up to some headline-grabbing bullshit by hiring Elon Musk to host an upcoming episode, and as previously reported, a bunch of cast members and regular folks out there aren't too pleased about it. Even though Musk's baby mama Grimes has his back, however, news has emerged that cast members won't have to perform alongside Elon if they don't want to.

A source told Page Six that Lorne Michaels will not force anyone to work with the controversial tech bro if they don't feel like it. "Speaking historically, if a cast member has been that unhappy, they don't have to do it," a source said. "[SNL boss Lorne Michaels] won't ever make them do anything they don't want to do."

As previously reported, a number of cast members were subtly and not-so-subtly critical of the decision leading up to the show.

Bowen YangAidy Bryant and Andrew Dismukes all responded to the casting choice over Instagram. Yang, who was the most vocal about his disapproval, reacted to the news with a frowning emoji on his stories. After Musk tweeted "Let's find out just how live Saturday Night Live really is," Yang responded, "What the fuck does this even mean?" in another story.

Bryant responded to the news by posting a tweet from Bernie Sanders about the "moral obscenity" of the Top 50 richest Americans hoarding the country's wealth, Musk included.

Dismukes brought the jokes, posting a photo of former SNL regular Cheri Oteri to his stories and writing: "ONLY CEO I WANT TO DO A SKETCH WITH IS CHER-E OTERI."

The big Elon episode will taking place on May 8 with musical guest Miley Cyrus.
