Ryan Reynolds is ditching the red Deadpool leotard for an upcoming project called The Great Bear Rainforest. The Vancouver-born actor will narrate the upcoming IMAX film, which explores the history of stewardship in the titular British Columbia forest.

The documentary was directed by Ian McAllister, and the footage was filmed over the span of more than a year, capturing stories of the animals and Indigenous communities that live in the Great Bear Rainforest.

The crew endured severe weather while waiting to get the perfect shots of animals like sea lions, whales and even the incredibly rare white Spirit Bear.

"I hope this film inspires the younger generation that there is hope for the future if we all work together and take care of our planet's remaining wild places," Reynolds said in a statement.

Reynolds isn't the only high-profile name involved in the project; Hans Zimmer was recruited to compose the movie's theme song.

The Great Bear Rainforest premieres in Vancouver on February 12.
