FX Is Making a Docuseries About Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Buying a Welsh Football Club

BY Josiah HughesPublished May 18, 2021

Last year, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney decided to team up and buy a Welsh football club for some reason. It was a weird enough news item, but now we'll get to see the nitty-gritty of the deal with a new docuseries.

FX has ordered two seasons of Welcome to Wrexham, a new docuseries that will follow these two wildly successful celebs as they pick up a tiny, obscure football team.

The show will be produced by Broadwalk Pictures — the same company behind Chef's Table — and will follow McElhenney and Reynolds as they take a crash course in football club ownership.

"Rob and Ryan will take fans inside the sport as never before, pairing their genuine love for the game with the welcome challenge of building on the heritage of this club," FX Entertainment's president of original programming Nick Grad said in a statement.
