In 2019, Rush reflected on their career-capping R40 anniversary tour with one-night film event "Cinema Strangiato," and it's now been announced that an expanded edition of the film will return to the big screen this year.

Rush: Cinema Strangiato - Director's Cut will arrive in select theatres nationwide on September 9 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Canadian trio's seminal 1981 album Moving Pictures.

Cinema Strangiato's new cut features a revamped setlist, featuring performance footage of "One Little Victory" and "Red Barchetta," as well as "Cygnus X-1" / "The Story So Far," which includes the final recorded drum solo of late drummer and primary lyricist Neil Peart.

The film's new edition also promises "backstage moments and candid footage from the cutting room floor," along with soundcheck performances of fan favourite "Jacob's Ladder," exclusive interviews with Tom Morello, Billy Corgan, Taylor Hawkins, producer Nick Raskulinecz, the Trailer Park Boys, violinist Jonathan Dinklage and "more surprises."

Public ticketing for Rush: Cinema Strangiato - Director's Cut begins in Canada on September 1. Ticket on-sale dates may vary in additional countries beginning on August 3.

While participating theatres have yet to be revealed, fans can stay up to date on Rush: Cinema Strangiato - Director's Cut screenings through the film's official website.

Earlier this month, guitarist Alex Lifeson teased new post-Rush project Envy of None.
