This week, a number of prominent figures who have outspokenly criticized the Republican party have been targeted in a number of attempted pipe bombings. Among them was actor Robert De Niro. Now, he's spoken out about the attempted attack.

"I thank God no one's been hurt, and I thank the brave and resourceful security and law enforcement people for protecting us," De Niro said in a statement released by his publicist. "There's something more powerful than bombs, and that's your vote. People MUST vote!"

The package sent to De Niro was reportedly similar to those containing pipe bombs that have been sent to other prominent Democratic figures this week, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, former attorney general Eric Holder, congresswoman Maxine Walters, former CIA director John Brennan and billionaire donor George Soros.

Today, police arrested a suspect in the attacks. A 56-year-old Florida man named Cesar Sayoc was arrested on suspicion of mailing at least a dozen explosives to Democrats.
