Orlando Bloom Reportedly in Talks to Play Joe Exotic in 'Tiger King' Movie

Now that basically everyone has watched Netflix's newest trainwreck docuseries, Tiger King, rumours about movie execs' plans to adapt the series for film have been circulating non-stop. Understandably, seeking to milk the massive success of the big cat tale, such a film would need a hot-commodity actor for the role of the show's key player, Joe Exotic.

According to a source tapped by U.K.'s Sun newspaper, 20th Century Studios has already begun planning the film, which will focus on Joe Exotic's feuds with other big cat moguls in the States. In addition to the film's early planning stages, the Sun's insider has also revealed that Orlando Bloom has been tapped to play the Tiger King himself, Joseph Maldonado-Passage.

"All filming is on lockdown at the moment but the studios are exploring projects they can get going on as soon as possible and they think Tiger King is the perfect story," the insider shared. "The popularity of the series has been unprecedented and they think a film about it could be even more dramatic."

The source added: "Discussions about a movie have only just started but they believe the idea has legs, especially if they get a big star like Orlando on board. They think he could really bring Joe to life on screen."

Joe Exotic is currently in isolation in the Federal Medical Center in Texas due to coronavirus concerns and has been unable to comment on the possible casting choice — but we suspect that he may be disappointed to learn that his role may not be filled by his first choice, Brad Pitt.

Orlando Bloom has also yet to comment on the situation, but he did post this doctored photo of him as Joe Exotic to Instagram about a week ago.
