Ever since Big Little Lies Season 2 wrapped, rumours have been swirling that a third season could happen. Now, Nicole Kidman has admitted that it's definitely in the works.

Speaking with the "Jam Nation" podcast, Kidman confirmed that Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty was working on a new book that would double as a plot for the show's third season.

"There's a story being concocted," she said. "Our group of women all want to do it. It's more the kernel of ideas that just need to be solidified."

Season 2 of the show was not as well received as the first, and news emerged that Andrea Arnold was stripped of a final cut of the series that she had allegedly been promised, with showrunner David E. Kelley and Season 1 director Jean-Marc Vallée stepping in to take control.

Whether or not those rumours were true, there's no denying that a third season of Big Little Lies could do well to correct course for the show.

Kidman just returned to HBO for Kelley's latest project, The Undoing.
