'Murphy Brown' Star Candice Bergen Has One of the Weirdest Instagram Accounts We've Ever Seen

BY Josiah HughesPublished Aug 31, 2017

Actress and former model Candice Bergen has had a long, illustrious career, including roles in everything from Murphy Brown to Boston Legal to BoJack Horseman. While she still works to this day, Bergen has found a second calling as the curator of one of the strangest Instagram accounts we've ever seen.

Bergen has blessed her 12.4 thousand followers with 568 images (as of press time), each of which is stranger than the last.

Take this recent image of Bergen with Ted Danson, Mary Steenburgen, Diane Keaton and Jane Fonda. In addition to its nonsensical caption, Bergen has bravely eschewed formal 'gram conventions by posting the photo sideways:

Bergen appears in the forthcoming Reese Witherspoon vehicle Home Again, and she shared an absolutely terrifying image from the set of the film:

Many Instagram users love to use the social media platform to boast about their recent meals, and Bergen is no different. Still, unfettered by aesthetic norms, she's willing to post actual gruel on her page:

If you're wondering why she chose the username "Bergen Bags," there's a good reason — as an astute Twitter user pointed out, the actress has a side hustle where she paints custom art on ridiculously expensive designer handbags.

According to a write-up on the official Bergen Bags website, it all started when her daughter asked her to doodle on a Louis Vuitton duffle bag. "I should say that I am not a painter," she says. "In fact, I haven't painted anything in forty years but I used to draw cartoony things and I wasn't bad at that. It has been a sharp learning curve but enjoyable. I set up my paints on the long table on our porch in East Hampton, put golden oldies on the radio and work happily."

Check out some of Bergen's paintings below, including a custom image of Deadpool. ("I have no idea who this is," Bergen writes.)
