Russi Taylor, a veteran voice actor best known for her 30 plus years of work playing Minnie Mouse, has passed away at the age of 75 due to complications from diabetes.

News of Taylor's passing was confirmed by the Walt Disney Company on Saturday (July 27).

"For more than 30 years, Minnie and Russi worked together to entertain millions around the world — a partnership that made Minnie a global icon and Russi a Disney Legend beloved by fans everywhere," Disney Bob Iger said. "We take comfort in the knowledge that her work will continue to entertain and inspire for generations to come."

Russi auditioned to play Minnie Mouse in 1986, beating out 199 other candidates to win over the role. In 1991, she married Wayne Allwine — the voice of Mickey Mouse. The two were, according to Disney, "as inseparable as their animated counterparts until Wayne's death" in 2009.

In addition to Minnie Mouse, Taylor voiced several characters on The Simpsons, including Üter Zörker, Lewis, Sherri and Terri and, most notably, Martin Prince.
