Miles Teller Says Doctors Found Jet Fuel in His Blood After Working on 'Top Gun: Maverick'

"Yeah, I was born with it, kid," said Cruise in response to the discovery

Tom Cruise is committed — to Scientology, to unnecessary stuntwork, to good ol' fashioned unhinged movie star bravura — and one can only imagine that he expects at least some of that dedication from his coworkers.

Enter Miles Teller, who, according to a recent sit-down on Late Night with Seth Meyers, was subconsciously trying to live up to Cruise's zest for life and bodily harm by fusing his earth-bound body with that of a mighty jet plane.

In other words, doctors allegedly found jet fuel, flame-retardant, and pesticides in the actor's bloodstream after he broke out in hives on the set of Top Gun: Maverick.

Teller says he first felt something was off after shooting a flight scene:

We landed, and I thought, "Man, I'm not feeling too good." I was really hot and I just started itching like crazy. So I got out of the jet. I'm just covered in hives. Head to toe. I go to a doctor. I do a blood analysis. I'm in an oatmeal bath that night. I have sensitive skin anyway, truth be told, Irish-Scottish skin. No dyes, no nothing.

After getting the blood work back, Teller told Cruise what the doctor had found. Cruise was unfazed.

"I go to set the next day and Tom's like, 'How did it go Miles? What did they find?'" Teller continued. "I was like, 'Well, Tom, it turns out I have jet fuel in my blood.' And without even skipping a beat Tom goes 'Yeah, I was born with it, kid. So that was a very Tom moment for me."
