Meghan McCain Exits 'The View'

"This was not an easy decision"

After four years on ABC's The View, controversial co-host Meghan McCain is stepping down amid her move from New York City to Washington, D.C.

According to multiple reports, McCain maintains that she is leaving in order to spend more time with family, and her decision to exit the daytime talk show is not connected to several recent on-set feuds with her co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines.

The conservative panellist will mark her final day on The View this month during the show's 24th Season. As the daughter of the late Republican politician, John McCain, Meghan's stint with The View will mark the second-longest ever for a conservative host, following Elisabeth Hasslebeck's run from 2003-2013.

"I am here to tell all of you that this is going to be my last season here at The View," McCain said during today's episode. "This was not an easy decision. COVID has changed the world for all of us. And it changed the way I'm living my life."

She continued: "I came to the D.C. area, and we have this incredible life here. And as any new mom knows, when I think about where I want Liberty to have her first steps, I have a really wonderful life here."
