Margaret Atwood Wants Drake to Make a Cameo in the Next Season of 'The Handmaid's Tale'

"Wouldn't it be fun?"

Two of Toronto's most beloved exports could be collaborating in the near future. Esteemed author Margaret Atwood is experiencing yet another influx of success thanks to this year's TV adaptation of her novel The Handmaid's Tale — and she's open to sharing the spotlight with the Six God himself, Drake.

Junot Díaz recently interviewed Atwood for the Boston Review, and naturally, Drizzy came up when the conversation turned to Toronto. When asked if she had any opinions on the rapper's music, Atwood replied: "Wouldn't it be fun for him to have a cameo in season two of The Handmaid's Tale?"

It's not a totally farfetched idea, seeing as the show is filmed in their shared hometown of Toronto.

"I'll drop that notion into the ear of Bruce Miller, the showrunner, and see what he can do with that," Atwood added. "Maybe Drake could help smuggle someone?"

We're guessing her faith in Drake's TV acting ability comes from watching reruns of Degrassi: The Next Generation, because the author admits she's never actually met the guy.

"I haven't met Drake, but I have of course met people who have met Drake," she told Diaz. "But you have to realize how o-l-d I am. I'm not likely to go to the same parties. Or many parties at all, to be frank."

Well, if her dream collaboration comes true and Drake appears in the second season of The Handmaid's Tale, the whole cast and crew can probably bank on a wrap party she won't want to miss — maybe it'll even be thrown at the rapper's new Toronto palace. Or at least involve a group outing to Fring's.

The Elisabeth Moss, Alexis Bledel and Samira Wiley-starring show is set to return for season two in 2018.
