Montreal's Le Matos are returning with a new soundtrack effort. Marking the duo's first proper release in two years, they will release their soundtrack to the web series Exode via Death Waltz/Mondo in June.
The Le Matos score comes for Jesse Malcolm Sweet's Exode web series, which "tells the story of celestial cartographer David, who is trying to save his family from death on a malfunctioning spaceship."
Marking the first Le Matos release since 2018's soundtrack to Summer of '84, their Exode OST "provides a richly textured electronic score that is key to the story, deftly cultivating feelings of wistfulness, loneliness, and mortality up against the unapologetic indifference of outer space," according to the press release.
Further breaking down the new soundtrack, the press release offers the following:
Exode's kinetic title theme is classic Le Matos sent into space — a majestically tempered track with a driving rhythm section and searingly dreamy synthesizers. The end credits theme alters that, nimbly blending in the sense of foreboding.
The remaining tracks find Le Matos tapping into the range of introspection and terror David feels as he tries desperately to reconnect with his family. Tender melodies morph into weary synth pads, pulsating arps, crystalline synth dreams, dissonant sonic expressions, and chest-thumping percussion.
Also, Computer Magic — who paired up with Le Matos on the Summer of '84 soundtrack — will rejoin them on "The Sounds of Nora," a song described as a "wistful slow-burner."

The Exode soundtrack will be pressed on 180-gram gold vinyl, and it will be limited to 400 copies. Pre-sales launch via the Death Waltz/Mondo website on Wednesday at noon CT.
Unfortunately, we're still unsure when we'll actually get Turbo Kid 2, which we can only hope Le Matos will once again soundtrack. But as previously reported, Turbo Kid producer Ant Timpson explained earlier this year that filmmakers François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell are still trying to get the sequel to the beloved 2006 film off the ground.
