Lady Gaga Says She Knows Exactly What She "Did Wrong" in 2001 'Sopranos' Cameo

"I see a very non-specific actor [on 'The Sopranos'], and now I see myself as someone who is at least really striving to be specific without thinking about it"

There's been a lot said (mostly to do with accents and wigs) about Lady Gaga's recent performance in Ridley Scott's House of Gucci. But in a new interview promoting the film, Gaga focuses on a different role that tapped into her Italian-American heritage — her turn as "Girl at Swimming Pool #2" on Episode 9, Season 3 of The Sopranos

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Gaga discussed revisiting her 2001 performance, and she has some pointers for her teenage self.

"When I look back on that scene I can see exactly what I did wrong in that scene," Gaga told EW. "I didn't know how to listen in a scene! I was supposed to laugh, and it was sort of like, cue, laugh ... I see it and I go, 'oh, that's not a real laugh!'"

In the scene, young Gaga eats pizza, drinks soda and smokes on the bleachers while A.J. Soprano and his friends race in the pool

"The nuance and being specific as an actor is something that can grow over time if you're willing to listen and really hear the other actor that you're working with," Gaga continued in the interview. "I see a very non-specific actor [on The Sopranos], and now I see myself as someone who is at least really striving to be specific without thinking about it, and that requires a lot of work ahead of time."
