Kathy Bates is set to join the film adaption of Judy Blume's 1970 coming-of-age novel Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.
The film, which is being directed and adapted for the screen by Kelly Fremon Craig, previously brought in Rachel McAdams and Abby Ryder Fortson.
The Lionsgate feature will follow the sixth-grade Margaret "who is questioning everything about adolescence and puberty," and her mother (McAdams), and grandmother (Bates) who try to "guide her through a time when everything is changing," according to Deadline.
"Kathy Bates has given us so many memorable, iconic characters," Craig said in a statement. "Whether it's comedy or drama, she is perpetually captivating on-screen. I'm thrilled to employ her extraordinary talents on this film I care so much about."
So far, no firm release date for the film has been set.
