James Corden Addresses Not Driving During "Carpool Karaoke"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 30, 2020

Last night (January 29), James Corden took an opportunity to finally address the recent "Carpool Karaoke" scandal that erupted when the TV host was caught filming the segment while not actually driving.

The Late Late Show host admitted he was indeed getting towed during the recent segment with Justin Bieber, but insisted that he usually does drive "unless we're doing something where we think it might not be safe like a dance routine or a costume change or if I'm drunk."

Corden even admitted to all of the segments in which he wasn't driving — Meghan Trainor, Cardi B, Migos, Chance the Rapper and the upcoming one with the Biebs.

Corden seemed to take the media sensationalism and public outcry in stride, though.

"Look, I'm just shocked that I've done something that upset people more than Cats," he joked.

Corden even went so far as to reveal that, "Often I don't actually need [celebrities] to help me get to work. Often, I'm at work already!"

Watch him come clean about the magic the behind late-night TV bits below.
