Lana Wachowski's long-awaited fourth instalment of the Matrix franchise is finally due to arrive this holiday season, and while fans patiently await its arrival, a new trailer for Resurrections has landed.

Expanding upon the first theatrical trailer that dropped back in September, the latest teaser finds Keanu Reeves' Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss's Trinity battling the forces that aim to keep them hostage, as Neo begins to see present illusions and past realities converge.

An official synopsis reads:

Choice, while an illusion, is still the only way out of — or into — the Matrix. Of course, Neo already knows what he has to do. But what he doesn't yet know is the Matrix is stronger, more secure and more dangerous than ever before. Déjà vu.

As previously reported, Jada Pinkett Smith will be returning to the film series as Niobe, alongside Lambert Wilson as the Merovingian and Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Caldwell, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick are also joining the cast.
