Here's Your First Look at Jack White's 'American Epic' Doc Series

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Apr 19, 2017

News of Jack White's American Epic documentary project with T Bone Burnett and Robert Redford first broke in 2015, followed by a performance-heavy film premiering in London that same year. Now, teasers for additional productions in the series have finally surfaced.

As the trailers point out, a four-part television miniseries will first premiere May 16 on PBS, while a companion documentary will hit theatres in early June. The trailers show White speaking alongside notable guests such as Nas and Elton John, while interviews with Beck, Alabama Shakes, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Taj Mahal and more are reported to be featured.

American Epic focuses on early pop, folk and blues music from America in the 1920s, along with the early establishment and evolution of the recording industry. If the visual components somehow weren't enough, a companion book is also set to see release on May 2, while a 100-song box set built from music highlighted in the series will arrive on May 12.
