We officially have our Joel and Ellie for the hugely anticipated The Last of Us TV series. It's been announced that The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal and Game of Thrones actress Bella Ramsey will lead the HBO series. Whether that's good news or bad is entirely up to you.

The casting announcement follows word that HBO was officially moving ahead with the project. which is based on the hugely successful PlayStation video game series helmed by Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann.

As previously reported, Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin is set to write and executive produce the series, while his frequent collaborator Johan Renck will direct. Druckmann will also work on the show, as both a writer and executive producer.

For the unfamiliar, The Last of Us is set 20 years after a zombie apocalypse destroys modern civilization as we know it. The series — which includes two games — features Pascal's Joel smuggling Ramsey's Ellie out from a quarantine zone, with the pair set to play a key role in searching for a cure.

In efforts to avoid spoilers, we will stop things there, but get ready for a lot of emotional weight to get thrown around and some serious feels.

As of yet, HBO has not yet set a release date for The Last of Us so stay tuned.
