Hear Diana Ross Team Up with Tame Impala for "Turn Up the Sunshine"

From the ridiculously star-studded 'Minions: The Rise of Gru' soundtrack

Earlier this month it was revealed — via groovy, guerilla-style '70s-themed posters — that Diana Ross (The Boss) would be collaborating with Tame Impala (The Australian) on a song for the Minions: The Rise of Gru soundtrack. And now, you can listen to that song in full.

"Turn Up the Sunshine" (both a cute call for good times and a scary notion in the age of climate change) is a funky, summery pop song that finds Kevin Parker subsuming his style into a more synthetic vision of Miss Ross's '70s heyday. It really sounds nothing like Tame Impala, but it sounds very ready to soundtrack a cheery, colourful blockbuster movie.

The soundtrack arrives alongside the film on July 1 and features covers of 1970s hits from the likes of St. Vincent, Tierra Whack, Phoebe Bridgers, and many more.

Diana Ross released Thank You, her first album in 15 years, in 2021. Tame Impala's last record was 2020's The Slow Rush, which got the deluxe box-set treatment last year.
