The world lost a horror master with the passing of The Night of the Living Dead director George A. Romero earlier this week, and fans of the zombie movie pioneer will be able to pay their respects at a public memorial in Toronto.

A celebration of the late director's life and work will be held at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre on Monday (July 24) from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. His family and manager Chris Roe shared a public invitation to the gathering, claiming "all are welcome."

Those unable to attend the event will be able to show their appreciation via an online guest book.

Romero moved to Toronto in 2004, shooting many of his subsequent projects in his adopted hometown.

As previously reported, Romero passed away on July 16 following a battle with lung cancer. He was 77.
