Waiting for the follow-up to 2016's Blonde has been a marathon, but we're still holding onto hope. Meanwhile, Frank Ocean is thinkin' 'bout endeavouring into cinema: the singer-songwriter is in talks to write and direct his first feature film with A24.

As DiscussingFilm reports, the project is in collaboration with production company 2AM, which already has two other upcoming A24 releases in the works: Past Lives and Bodies, Bodies, Bodies. Ocean also has some history with A24, as his music was featured prominently in 2019's Waves.

The artist's directorial debut is being referred to internally by the working title Philly. Plot details remain scarce, but he has reportedly been eyeing New Mexico as a potential location. They're looking to begin filming sometime this fall and wrap the production before 2023, when Ocean is expected to headline Coachella.

While this will be the singer-songwriter's first feature, he dipped his toes into filmmaking with Endless — a visual album released exclusively on Apple Music in 2016, which depicted Ocean building a staircase for 46 minutes.

Perhaps it's too early to start speculating about whether the film will be an homage to cheesesteaks or take cues from Rocky or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but anything could — or couldn't — happen.

Megan Thee Stallion is set to make her acting debut in A24's R-rated musical-comedy F*cking Identical Twinswhich will apparently put a "subversive" spin on The Parent Trap. Meanwhile, Ocean's Channel Orange bop "Lost" has become a sleeper hit on TikTok.
