Adam Schlesinger, a member of pop-rock groups Fountains of Wayne and Ivy, has been hospitalized and is on a ventilator after being diagnosed with the coronavirus.
The news broke from an Ivy fan account on Twitter, though later reports clarified the 52-year-old is not in a medically induced coma.
"He is on a ventilator and has been sedated to facilitate his recovery. He is in critical condition but his condition is improving slightly and we are cautiously optimistic," Schlesinger's girlfriend told Pitchfork.

The prolific singer/songwriter/producer has earned a Grammy and three Emmys, as well as an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination (for his original title song from 1996 film That Thing You Do), and Tony nominations for the musical Cry-Baby.
Along with David Javerbaum, Schlesinger co-wrote Neil Patrick Harris's 2011 Tonys opening number "It's Not Just for Gays Anymore," the 2012 Tonys opening and closing numbers, the 2011 Emmy Awards opening number, and "The Number in the Middle of the Show" from the 2012 Emmy Awards.
He also penned the theme song for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and has collaborated on a number of original songs from the show.
Beyond all this, Schlesinger has collaborated with Stephen Colbert, penning eight songs for his TV special A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! Plus, Schlesinger is reportedly working with Sarah Silverman on a musical adaption of her book The Bedwetter.
