Fourteen years since the Star Wars prequel triology, Ewan McGregor has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi for an upcoming Disney+ series.

The announcement came at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA. The scripts are apparently finished, with filming set to begin in 2020.

There's no confirmed release date for the Kenobi show. Disney+ is set to launch in a small handful of countries, including Canada, on November 12.

McGregor was on hand to make the big reveal himself, adding, "It feels so nice to say." Watch it below.

In other Star Wars news, Jon Favreau's series The Mandalorian will launch on November 12 with an eight-episode season. There will also be a series focusing on Cassian Andor from Rogue One.

There have been rumblings about a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi project since 2017, but it was put on hold in 2018 — around the time Solo: A Star Wars Story underperformed at the box office. A Boba Fett show reportedly got cancelled around the same time.
