Vanessa Marquez, an actor best known for her role as Wendy Goldman in the first three seasons of the hit show ER, has been shot and killed by Los Angeles police.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, officers from the Pasadena Police Department visited Marquez's home around noon on Thursday (August 30) to conduct a mental health welfare check.

Marquez was reportedly having seizures, at which point a request for medical assistance was called in. Police added that Marquez was uncooperative and appeared to be suffering from mental health issues.

The police and a mental health clinician spoke to Marquez for 90 minutes. At that point, she allegedly grabbed a gun and pointed it at the officers. She was shot and killed before authorities discovered that it was a BB gun.

Last year, Marquez said she was "blacklisted" by ER and her male co-star George Clooney after speaking out about sexual misconduct on the show's set.

In addition to ER, Marquez appeared in SeinfeldMelrose Place and the film Stand and Deliver. She was 49.
