Next week, Elon Musk's SpaceX will launch the Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon Capsule into space — and Discovery and Science Channel have announced a special broadcast of the event.

Space Launch Live: America Returns to Space, hosted by Chris Jacobs, will air live on May 27 at 2 p.m. ET from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The special is set to feature appearances by Katy Perry, Mythbusters' Adam Savage, and a host of current and former astronauts like Chris Cassidy, who will appear from the International Space Station.

Astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley will fly the mission to the ISS. The launch will mark the first from the U.S. since the Space Shuttle was retired in 2011.

So far, there has been no word yet on whether or not the mission will air live in Canada.

"Discovery and Science Channel have spent over a year documenting SpaceX's race to become the first private company to launch American astronauts into space," Science Channel exec Scott Lewers told Deadline. "Our live special offers both incredible access for the launch, and expert insight from SpaceX Founder and Chief Engineer Elon Musk and other leading aerospace professionals."
