Elon Musk Is So Sad That the New 'Lord of the Rings' Series Has Mean Male Characters

"Tolkien is turning in his grave," he claims

The new Lord of the Rings series is pretty good! The Rings of Power is an epic ensemble series that does a surprisingly good job at recapturing the magic of the trilogy from the early '00s — but don't tell that to famed Twitter troll Elon Musk, who is upset about the show's portrayal of male characters.

Yesterday (September 5), Musk tweeted that "Tolkien is turning in his grave," before clarifying that he's upset about the portrayal of male characters in the show. "Almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both," he wrote. "Only Galadriel is brave, smart and nice."

He thankfully stopped short of complaining about how the show is too "woke" — although that's certainly how many MRA commenters are interpreting his words.

Other commenters are pointing out that characters like Arondir and Elrond fit the bill of what Musk describes. (And this writer questions whether Galadriel is all that "nice," given how she forces unwilling Elves to continue their hunt for Sauron, but I digress.)

This whole thing might be a jab at rival oligarch Jeff Bezos, since The Rings of Power is an Amazon series.
