Tanya Tagaq released her book Split Tooth in 2018, and it's found a high-profile fan in Elliot Page, who has now called it "one of the best things I've ever read."

This shoutout came in Page's new essay for Esquire — a free-form, stream-of-consciousness collection of memories and observations.

In it, Page writes, "Do you know the book Split Tooth, by Tanya Tagaq? It's one of the best things I've ever read. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. The last two pages of her book are just this whole beautiful piece about: I don't want to forgive. But I forgive myself. I'll pick it up every once in a while just to read that."

Tagaq responded to Page on Instagram, thanking the actor and writing, "You kick ass."

Split Tooth is the award-winning story of an Inuk woman growing up in the 1970s in Northern Canada. It's partly based on Tagaq's own journals and combines memoir with fiction, poetry and mythology.
