Elijah Wood's Dream Is to Open a Record Store

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 4, 2017

Elijah Wood is best known for playing Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies, though he's also done stints on the small screen for shows like Wilfred and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency in recent years, not to mention dived into the world of horror with his Maniac reboot and Cooties. Turns out the actor's ultimate dream doesn't involve any on camera work at all, though.

In an interview with Empire [via The Vinyl Factory], Wood revealed that he would love to open a record store. The part-time DJ and vinyl enthusiast also has ambitions to bring creativity into restaurant kitchens, though we're guessing the turntables would be kept far away from the food.

"I DJ as a hobby, which has increasingly become a source of enjoyment and expression. I've always wanted to open a restaurant as I'd love to marry the creativity of designing a space while giving a great chef a place to create," he said. "And opening a record store is something I've wanted to do since I was a teenager."

So far, there aren't any concrete plans in place to make the dream a reality, but one thing is for sure — he won't be going by the name DJ Frodo any time soon. He discussed his DJing hobby and what not to call him on Late Night with Seth Meyers a couple months ago.

Last year, Wood also teamed up with music biz veteran (and the other half of Wood's DJ duo Wooden Wisdom) Zach Cowie to curate a Vinyl Factory mix, which came with an accompanying video that sees them dive into their private music collections. Revisit that clip below.
