Don't Worry: 'The Book of Boba Fett' Will Not Replace Season 3 of 'The Mandalorian'

Further cementing its status as one of 2020's best TV series, Season 2 of The Mandalorian concluded last week with an epic finale. Without giving away any spoilers, its post-credit scene introduced plans for Disney+ to release something called The Book of Boba Fett in December 2021. Now, more details on that plan have emerged.

If you were worried that the new show would come out instead of The Mandalorian Season 3, we're pleased to tell you that won't be the case. Instead, The Book of Boba Fett will be a standalone series.

"We wanted to hold this back because we didn't want to spoil the surprise during the big Disney announcement for all the shows.. and so they let me keep this one a secret," Jon Favreau told Good Morning America [via Deadline]. "This is actually separate from The Mandalorian Season 3 and then we go into production after that with Season 3 of The Mandalorian, with the main character that we all have known and loved."

Disney+ recently announced 10 new projects from the Star Wars universe, and The Book of Boba Fett was not one of them. That means there are currently 11 new Star Wars properties in the works. Watch Favreau discuss The Book of Boba Fett below.
