Don't Worry: Brexit Will Not Affect 'Game of Thrones'
Published Jun 24, 2016The world is seemingly falling into chaos after the UK officially voted to leave the European Union yesterday (June 23). The pound sterling is dropping at a drastic rate, the stock markets are going crazy, and some are saying this could usher in a new era of international crises. But let's get our priorities straight — how will this affect our favourite TV show about dragons and sword-fighting and illicit sex?
Fret not, as HBO has already released a statement promising that Brexit will not affect the upcoming production schedule for Game of Thrones. While some feared the show would suffer due to its potential loss of the European Regional Development Fund, HBO did everything they could to calm nerves.
In a statement, the network said, "We do not anticipate that the result of the EU Referendum will have any material effect on HBO producing Game of Thrones."
Phewf! We can all breathe a sigh of relief that we'll be getting more Game of Thrones to distract us from the Game of Thrones-like disasters taking place in the real world.
