Donald Trump Will Remain Banned from Facebook for Two More Years

Remember Donald Trump? That guy that was once everywhere has not really been popping up on the internet too often since losing the election to Joe Biden, and that's in part because he was banned from all social media sites following the Capitol riot. There were rumblings that he'd be returning to Facebook, but Mark Zuckerberg has decided to extend his time in Facebook jail.

According to Facebook, Trump will not be allowed on the platform until 2023, claiming that the disgraced politician and reality show star is a "risk to public safety." The statement added that "given the gravity of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump's suspension, we believe his actions constituted a severe violation of our rules which merit the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols."

The company added that "there will be a strict set of rapidly escalating sanctions that will be triggered" if Trump tries to eschew the band, including the possibility of a permaban.

Trump had allegedly tried returning to the platform after ending his blog, which was a Twitter-like site on his own website. It only lasted 29 days due to low readership.

Of the extended Facebook ban, TMZ quoted Trump as saying, "[Facebook] shouldn't be allowed to get away with this censoring and silencing and, ultimately, we will win. Our [c]ountry can't take this abuse anymore!"

He added, "Next time I'm in the White House there will be no more dinners, at his request, with Mark Zuckerberg and his wife. It will be all business!"
