Donald Glover Says TV Is Boring Now Because "People Are Afraid of Getting Cancelled"

Donald Glover has vented some serious frustration about how the television and film industries are boring now. And according to him, the fear of being cancelled is to blame.

In a fresh series of tweets, the Atlanta star sounded off about how creators are too careful with their work these days, leading to swaths of boring material that not even critics want to watch.

"We're getting boring stuff and not even experimental mistakes because people are afraid of getting cancelled," Glover wrote. "So they feel like they can only experiment with aesthetic."

It's unclear if Glover thinks showrunners are afraid of having their shows taken off the air, or if he is referring to the more perilous "cancel culture" that so many celebrities have taken it upon themselves to rally against.

Either way, we can expect that Glover's grievances about the industry will apply to his own creative process when he's writing the forthcoming third season of Atlanta, which, as we learned last month, has begun shooting its first batch of episodes.

Actually, Glover seems confident that the new season is anything but "boring," having previously teased that the forthcoming crop of episodes was going to be the best television since The Sopranos.
