Disney Is Working on a Standalone 'Star Wars' Movie About Obi-Wan Kenobi

Disney and Lucasfilm have been powering ahead with the Star Wars franchise, delivering the Skywalker trilogy alongside standalone films like Rogue One and the forthcoming Han Solo movie. While fans are still awaiting rumoured movies about Yoda and Boba Fett, however, it looks as if Disney will next make a flick about Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Details are scarce, but The Hollywood Reporter reports that Oscar-nominated filmmaker Stephen Daldry (The HoursBilly Elliott) is in talks with the company to potentially direct a new flick about the Jedi master.

The film is still in its earliest development stages, and it's as yet unclear if Ewan McGregor will reprise the role as he did in the prequel trilogy. Of course, if he does that means we'll be one step closer to getting Jar Jar Binks to return.

Stay tuned for more details on the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie as they become available.
