"Charlie Bit Me" Viral Video to Be Deleted from YouTube, Auctioned as NFT

Watch it while you still can

The owners of the 2007 viral video known as "Charlie Bit Me" have hopped on the NFT bandwagon, and will be auctioning off the original clip in non-fungible token format this weekend.

It's been 15 years since the youngsters Harry and Charlie Davies-Carr — now 17 and 15, respectively — graced our screens for the first time. And now, more than 882,296,471 views later, the boys are scheduled to be permanently deleted from YouTube and passed on to new owners.

A note from the original poster's account reads:

I am sorry comments are turned off. YouTube have set the video to 'made for kids'. I have appealed over three times and every time I get an anonymous rejection from the community. I have tried to get engagement levels back to where they were but no one from YouTube will speak to me. This video was made for my friends and family and engagement has always been with adults. Instead, I have moved to engaging with Fans through NFT. We helped YouTube grow and embraced it early. We are now moving onto the next exciting thing.

The owner has also redirected potential buyers to Charliebitme.com, where the online auction will be held.

"One person will have the opportunity to own it in its new form as a 1/1 NFT, memorializing them in internet history forever," the auction site reads. "The NFT winner will also get the opportunity to create their own parody of the video featuring the original stars, Harry and Charlie."

The original YouTube video's title has been changed to read "Charlie bit my finger - again ! - On May 23rd this video will be removed from YouTube :)," so if you want to watch the video a few more times before it's gone forever, you can do that below.
