Nick Nemeroff — the Juno-nominated Canadian standup comedian who appeared on Conan, Just for Laughs and more — has died. Nemeroff's management company, Grand Wave Entertainment, confirmed the comic's passing this afternoon. A cause of death was not revealed.
"We have been so proud to watch Nick grow in to one of Canada's most popular and respected comedians," Grand Wave wrote of Nemeroff in a statement. "Truly a devastating loss to the Toronto and Montreal comedy communities, where he developed and perfected his unique performance and delivery style. Nick will be sorely missed, and fondly remembered."
A Montreal native, Nemeroff attended the city's Royal West Academy and went on to graduate from the Radio and Television program at Toronto Metropolitan University (f.k.a. Ryerson University). An obituary for the comedian also points to time living and performing in Los Angeles and Australia.
Nemeroff released his debut standup album The Pursuit of Comedy Has Ruined My Life in 2020, which featured material recorded over two evenings in December 2019 at now-shuttered Toronto bar the Ossington. The album, which you can hear in its entirety below, would go on to be nominated for Comedy Album of the Year at the 2021 Juno Awards.
In 2018, Nemeroff made his late-night debut on Conan before the long-running show went off the air.
