As with anything that achieves a ludicrous level of popularity, the simple and sweet days of The Great British Bake Off just might be over. In the UK, the show is moving from the BBC to Channel 4, and losing everyone except for Paul Hollywood in the process. Now, it looks like they're franchising the series on a global scale as the show is coming to Canada.

The CBC is gearing up to launch The Great Canadian Baking Show this fall, and they'll air series of The Great British Bake Off leading up to its arrival.

In a statement, CBC's Jennifer Dettman, executive director of unscripted content, said she's excited to "give amateur Canadian bakers a platform to tell their diverse stories and showcase their extraordinary talents on a national stage."

While it certainly won't have the same distinctly British charm as its original forebear, here's hoping the CBC can find hosts as charmingly dorky as Mel and Sue.
