Bruce Springsteen's most recent album Western Stars was recently treated to a companion film of the same name, and now the film's soundtrack is getting released. Western Stars: Songs from the Film will be released October 25 via Columbia.
The album features songs from this past June's Western Stars LP but recorded live; the recordings for the OST were pulled directly from the film. As in the film, there's also an additional cover of Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy."

The audio from the film was recorded with Springsteen, a backing band (including his wife Patti Scialfa) and a full orchestra. The performance was captured at Springsteen's own ranch, Stone Hill Farm, in Colts Neck, NJ.
As previously reported, the accompanying Western Stars film was directed by Springsteen and his collaborator Thom Zimny. It premiered at TIFF earlier this month and will receive a wide cinematic release on October 25. You can read Exclaim!'s review of the film here.
