It's the Icelandic icon's first film role since 2000

Robert Eggers will soon follow last year's The Lighthouse with The Northman, a 10th century Viking epic he was due to begin shooting this past March until COVID-19 shut down the industry. Now, it's been revealed that Björk will be a part of the cast.

Photos of cast headshots shared by a personal trainer working on the film (archived below) point to Björk playing the role of "the Slav Witch." A Brazilian fan account has also highlighted that the Icelandic icon's daughter, Ísadóra Bjarkardóttir Barney, will also have a role in the film.

The two join a cast that already includes Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman, Alexander and Bill Skarsgård, Claes Bang, and Anya Taylor-Joy

Björk's involvement marks her first major film role since 2000, when she starred in Lars Von Trier's Dancer in the Dark. In 2017, she alleged that the director had "enabled" and "encouraged" harassment and abuse on set.

The Northman, which Eggers wrote alongside Icelandic poet and novelist Sjón, has been described as a Viking revenge film.
