Austin City Limits 2005 Music Festival

This no-frills collection of eclectic concert footage mixes performances by the likes of John Prine with a host of pop punkers and jam bands. The surprisingly explosive AC/DC-aping "Cold Hard Bitch” by Jet is matched by the electronically-charged reggae of "Warning Shots” by Thievery Corporation. Bloc Party blast off with "This Modern Love,” while the Frames’ knack for winning crowds over is evident during "Revelate.” The sweat-soaked neo-wave of the Kaiser Chiefs gets kids hopping during "I Predict a Riot,” while Eisley’s "Golly Sandra” is a gentle reprieve. The Decemberists’ "July, July!” seems to mystify the audience and Steve Earle and the Dukes cross the Doors with the Hip on "Warrior.” Despite a second disc loaded with features, there are few reasons to revisit ACL 2005.
