Asia O'Hara Addresses Disastrous Butterfly Reveal from 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 10 Finale

The internet also had a few things to say about it

Aquaria may have snatched the title of America's Next Drag Superstar on last night's (June 28) finale of RuPaul's Drag Race, but Asia O'Hara certainly gave the most memorable performance of the night — for all the wrong reasons. Her costume reveal did not go according to plan, and rather than ripping off fake breasts to reveal live butterflies, she ripped off fake breasts and revealed, well, not very lively butterflies.

The winged creatures appeared lifeless and failed to fly into the air. O'Hara has since explained that the Painted Lady butterflies need to warm up to a certain temperature in order to fly away, but they had been kept in a chilly, hibernation-like environment in order to be transported.

Instead, most of them wound up on the floor — and despite claims that no butterflies were harmed during the performance, viewers definitely saw O'Hara's competitor Kameron Michaels stomp on a few.

O'Hara has issued a formal apology via Twitter for the embarrassing stunt, detailing the research and rehearsals that went into planning the reveal and stating that "I would never purposely hurt any living being and have the utmost respect for all animals."

She went on to say that she has been "unhappy with myself since that night," but laid out plans to "make it right." Along with friends, she has pledged 100 hours of volunteer hours to the ASPCA.

In spite of the heartfelt apology, Twitter is having a field day with the onstage fail. See some of the best reads and most hilarious memes below.
