An American Theatre Is Offering Women-Only Screenings of 'Wonder Woman' and Online Trolls Are Pissed

Patty Jenkins's long-awaited Wonder Woman is on track to be one of the year's biggest films. Seriously, this thing is going to be playing everywhere — you'll have no trouble finding a showtime that suits your needs. Regardless, some online trolls are pissed that an American theatre is offering two women-only screenings of the film.

Austin's Alamo Drafthouse announced plans to avoid a potential sausage party with a screening for (and by) anyone who identifies as a woman. On June 6, they'll offer to screenings where no dudes are allowed.

Here's their plan, as detailed on their website:

Apologies, gentlemen, but we're embracing our girl power and saying 'No Guys Allowed' for one special night at the Alamo Ritz. And when we say 'Women (and People Who Identify As Women) Only,' we mean it. Everyone working at this screening — venue staff, projectionist, and culinary team — will be female.

It's an incredibly savvy marketing move that has struck nerves in all the right places. Not only are female geeks empowered to indulge in a comic book movie, but male online trolls are having a damn conniption about it, too.

Flavorwire has collected a batch of mind-boggling commentary from Facebook's goofiest users, while the Drafthouse Twitter account has also been hit with a great deal of misogynists who feel excluded from two screenings at one theatre.

Wonder Woman will be available to everyone on June 2. Watch its trailer below.
