A Scott Weiland Biopic Is in the Works
The life of late Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland will be explored in a new biopic.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the forthcoming Paper Heart will be based on Weiland's 2012 memoir Not Dead & Not for Sale, which the artist wrote with David Ritz.

Currently in development, Paper Heart is helmed by Dark Pictures and producer Orian Williams. Dark Pictures co-founder Jennifer Erwin will write the script for the film, which will blend "rock stardom with a moving love story."

"It's an honour to have the trust to tell Scott's story and the ability to portray the lesser known sides of him — the loving and tender man he was, the high school athlete he was, the melancholy soul he was and the legendary frontman that he will always be," Erwin said in a statement.

Producer Williams confirmed in a respective statement that Weiland's unreleased music will be featured in the film. "We want to make the most authentic film possible about this remarkable artist," he shared. "Beyond Scott's page turning memoir, connecting with those closest to Scott is important to get the details right."

Dark Pictures co-founder Anne Beagan added, "Scott was glamorous, complicated and wounded. His childhood had a big effect on his struggles with addiction."

Weiland passed away in December 2015 at the age of 48. Next month, Stone Temple Pilots will celebrate 25 years of Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop.
