A 'Rick and Morty' Fan Traded McDonald's Szechuan Sauce for a Car

No word of how many miles to the gallon of sauce it runs on

This past weekend, hardcore fans of Adult Swim's Rick and Morty embarrassed themselves (and humanity, by extension) by flipping the fuck out over a shortage of McDonald's limited-edition szechuan dipping sauce. While some decided that getting mad online would help quell their cravings, others made the choice to acquire the sauce by any means necessary — including trading an entire car for a packet.

As Business Insider reports, 23-year-old graphic designer Rachel Marie ended up flipping a packet of the glorified ketchup to another a fan for his Volkswagon Golf MK4. Marie had woken up at 9 a.m. to stand ninth in line on the day of the promotional sauce giveaway (October 7). She then opted to keep her packet sealed, posting it to Facebook group Pin Nation in hopes of swapping it for pins or jewellery.

"There was actually a large response with some nice pins," Marie told the publication. "But if I could get a car, I thought, why not ask?"

The car-trading fan, who did not give permission for his name to be used, told Business Insider that he "just needed me some friggin sauce." The szechuan fiend added that he has another car that he will now fix to use on a daily basis. Though the two said the car's ownership papers were unable to be found and exchanged, screenshots were provided to prove that the deal had gone through.

The sauce-induced insanity, which saw police get involved in some instances, prompted McDonald's to announce a wider release for the coveted condiment. Find screenshots of Marie's sweet new ride below.
