A New 'Fraggle Rock' Series Is Coming and It's Being Made in Calgary

Get ready for more Fraggle Rock, as the beloved Jim Henson property has officially started work on a new reboot series in Calgary.

Last April, Fraggle Rock: Rock On! arrived on Apple TV+, and now the team behind the show has began shooting its next season at the Calgary Film Centre, the Canadian Press reports.

While the original 1980s show was filmed in Toronto, Jim Henson Company's chief operating officer, Chris Lytton, said Calgary was "the obvious choice" thanks to Alberta's production rebate structure.

While Fraggle Rock: Rock On! consisted of six-minute episodes made in during quarantine, signs point to the new Calgary-made series being a more proper Fraggle Rock instalment. The cast includes original series puppeteers Dave Goelz and Karen Prell, as well as longtime Jim Henson collaborator John Tartaglia, CP reports.

"How exciting that Jim Henson's vision is being continued right here," Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi said. "I can't wait to see the further adventures of the Fraggles and the Doozers, with a Calgary touch!"

As of yet, it's unclear when the new Fraggle Rock series will arrive.
