Céline Dion's storied career will be the topic of an upcoming film called The Power of Love.

According to Variety, the $23 million USD production is in the works from Gaumont studios and is expected to hit theatres on December 2, 2020.

Dion has reportedly authorized the rights to her music, including hit songs like "All By Myself," "My Heart Will Go On" and "I'm Alive."

French actress Valérie Lemercier will direct the film and will also star as Dion.

The Power of Love will tell Dion's story from her upbringing in Quebec to her fame as a teenage singer and beyond, as well as her relationship with her late manager and husband René Angélil and her family.

Lemercier was particularly inspired by Dion's grief following the death of Angélil, and she began researching everything about Dion, Angélil and Dion's mother Thérèse.

"I discovered the strength of their love story and their great humour," Lemercier told Variety. "And I better understood how the alchemy of their three individual ambitions made an unwanted, little girl the greatest star on the planet."

The film is anticipated to begin shooting in March at locations in France, Canada, Spain and Las Vegas.

The Power of Love follows other recent musical biopics, including Bohemian Rhapsody about Freddie Mercury and Rocketman about Elton John
